The Serbski Sejm receives support from the President of the Parliament of the German-speaking Community of Belgium

Within the framework of LUSATIA GLOW, the innovative method of European integration through cross-border regional cultures co-initiated by the Serbski Sejm, and its subsidiary initiative EIFEL GLOW in East Belgium, the Sorbian / Wendish Parliament visited Belgium from 28 September to 1 October 2023 at the invitation of the international movement SLAVONIC EUROPE and was received by Charles SERVATY, the President of the Parliament of the German-speaking Community of Belgium (DG). Led by Tomaš ČORNAK, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Serbski Sejm , the Sorbian / Wendish parliamentary delegation discussed in Eupen, the administrative centre of East Belgium, forms of educational and cultural autonomy as well as how the structure of the Sorbian / Wendish parliament could be strengthened. Future cooperation and mutual exchange between Lusatia and East Belgium are planned.

A discussion with the Ministry of Education, Research and Training of East Belgium, represented by Dr. Jens GIESDORF, shed light on the concrete functioning of the East Belgian education system and its conditions as an excellently functioning system of educational autonomy.

A visit to Saint Vith, the other important centre of East Belgium, and cooperation talks with the ARSVITHA cultural forum based there, represented by its director Jan PIETTE, concluded the Serbski Sejm's Belgian excursion.
